    Something wrong with Damian?
Hello everyone. Once again I need advice from the forum. I noticed some slight discoloration? On Damian’s mouth.. I am not sure if it is dirt from the reptile prime, maybe from pushing, or something else. He is in an enclosed rack. Temps 89-90 degrees hot, 79-80 cool and 78 ambient. He has a hide in him tub and humidity is around 60 degrees. I have included a picture that can hopefully help. He took his first FT rat on Thursday so he is eating. Seems to be acting normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5cdde5879c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1d3724dc25.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4d35d6222b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8814efc518.jpg

looks like a fresh rub mark. have you noticed him active or rubbing? anything in the enclosure he could scrape up on?

It is a freedom breeder 10 tub.. has two thermometers, built in deli cup and reptile basic black hide.. thats all.

I my original post was geared more toward the brown on his upper lip area.. I just noticed the pink when I was posting these pictures.

Not sure I'm seeing what you think is an issue??? His lip looks normal to me...do you have a "before" picture to compare to?

This is the area that looked a bit discolored to mehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9684e67a63.jpg

I will try and find some older pictures that show the area

I also use Reptile Prime and have also noticed the same sort of brown staining on Horatio's lighter scales off and on. It goes away with time or a shed, so in my opinion it's just stain from the substrate.

Thank you for the advice to look back at previous pictures. I looked at an old picture and it seems to be there.. thank you. This is my first snake and I love him to death and I just want to make sure he is okay. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0f7c190809.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...305a6dc6d8.jpg

Again, thanks for the advice on looking at earlier pictures. He seems to have the same dark marks around his mouth in both of them. The second picture is the one I took tonight FYI.

Awesome thank you for the reassurance. I looked at pictures from a couple of weeks ago and noticed he had the same marks. I am just happy it isn't something new or anything wrong with him. Thanks for the reply.

Googling images and forum information is like using web MD for human problems. Mind always turns to the worse case scenario. Lol.. I was stressing on scale rot, mouth rot, rubbing, stuck shed and everything else under the sun.

No problem....can't fault you for caring about your :snake: now can we? I just thought it looked like his normal coloration, and those are the sort of marks
that are easy to miss on a normal day. I'm glad it's 'nothing' too.

As far as possible staining from substrate, I've seen that here too, on another thread...that snake appeared to have a stripe down his back, but actually, it
was just that he had rubbed his back on the very top, while his sides remained a bit stained, making the lighter area (which was actually normal) look like
    a strange new stripe. I love a good mystery...:D
