Retained eyeshed on ball python?

My ball python has had lines on her eyes or like wrinkles. I’m not sure if it’s retained eyeshed or not but I put her in a humidity box and it didn’t help. Can someone give advice ? https://ball-pythons.net/forums/blob...0-21f7d26fe44d

If you have previous sheds still on her eyes put her in a humidity box with the bottom covered in water with some paper towels, sometimes I leave them in for an hour or two and get some scotch tape and loop it around your finger take her and just gently flick the tape against her eye and most of the time it will pull the eye cap right off. Just make sure you use a scotch tape because its not that sticky, you wouldn't want a stronger tape it could pull the eye ball out. Hope this helps

It would be nice to have a picture. Eye dimpling is usually caused by not enough humidity. I don’t know how long you had her in a “humidity box”, but you need to make sure it’s the right humidity level in your set up. You make no mention of it’s level, or if you even have a way of measuring the humidity. You should be at minimum 50%, ideally around 60%. You definitely need to look into this.

Eye dents are caused by dehydration.
Can't say if that's what it is without seeing it though.

That's just a 'link' to your file directory. You need to upload the file somewhere. Try imgur and then link us to the uploaded image.

If it is indeed retained eyecaps, and if the snake still eats fine, I would suggest leaving them on until the next shed and bump up your humidity, and hopefully the stuck eye caps will come off with the shed. It can be dangerous or stressful for the snake to try to remove the eye caps yourself. That's the advice I've read on this forum when my bp had stuck eye caps before his humidity was correct.

The problem is probably dehydration. For a quick, partial fix, put the snake in a clean plastic box with a quarter of an inch (about 5 mm) of water in the bottom. Leave alone for half an hour, so the snake can feel safe enough to drink. If the snake has only been in your possession for a few days, especially if it came from a pet store, it's good to make sure it gets a drink anyway.

Do you know when the snake last shed its skin? If you do not, or if it's been more than 3 days, leave the eyecaps alone. A newbie can do severe damage by messing around with them. I've seen many snakes shed off a retained eyecap in the next shed. There was a documented case of a cobra that built up 7 eyecaps on one eye before they were taken off. And there was no damage to the eye. This was before antivenin, when an accident with a cobra was likely to be fatal.

Yikes that method sounds so flamin risky !!!

Some tape is bladdy sticky .... get it wrong and you could pull the eye ball right out of its socket as mentioned ..

Best and safest quick fix is to soak for 30 minutes ( read up on soaking methods ) then have a wet , rough textured towel ready and let the snake slither inside the towel for about 5 to 10 minutes ... when it's head pops out just cover it with the loose end of the towel and carry on .. Whist it's in there apply pressure , very very gently to the eye /head areas and the eye caps will generally come off safely on the towel ..
