So I visited S&S Exotics and was supprised to find.......
So I visited S&S Exotics and was supprised to find they had 3 large retics living together in one large enclosure. They have already lost respect because I wanted to look at one of their snakes they had and found out they had mites. Lots of mites everywhere. I was terrified as I left the store that I had a hitchhiker. I stripped right before going in the house and changed in clean clothes in my laundry room after bathing in hand sanitizer.
Breathe......
I didn't ask but I am assuming they were all female being housed together because males would fight? Is this ok if enclosure is large enough? IDK.
Just lost respect for them. Will not be going back or purchasing anything from their store.

If the enclosure is huge, has multiple spots for thermal regulation, hiding and a smart feeding routine has been introduced is it really that bad to have a group of females housed together? I think zoos do it with success. I think Jay Brewer does it too.

And while it may be awkward, I think you should make a POINT of telling that store why you won't be back...(mites!). They need to know that their customers
aren't fools and if they want to stay in business, they need to CARE.
I did make a big deal about it but they were busy. The manager apologized and said they were fighting the problem as hard as they could. I recommended they now sell anything with mites to anyone. I pointed out that anyone (like me) with multiple snakes at home would be discouraged from coming in again and also would face the same nightmare if they brought one of their snakes home with them. Not to mention the health issues for the poor snakes.
