refreezing mice

so yesterday my mom drove from tennessee to ohio with my mice, they were frozen in a block of ice but they still thawed. they were still very cold and had 0 smell. i cant currently afford to buy more so im just curious if theyre still okay

Ive done it as long as they dont stink or didnt get stiff i dont see why its an issue i just try not to make a habbit of it

i just dont get how they thawed they were literally in a block of ice it makes no sense to me

As long as they were still cold they'll be fine. Just pack them up in air tight bags and don't reuse them if there are any refusals.

Scent would indicate that bacteria had started to eat them. Since there is no scent-they have not started to deteriorate-so they should be fine.

Our noses aren't anywhere close to being sensitive enough to smell the start of spoilage, but that said, I agree that if they remained "very cold" you
should be fine to re-freeze them...THIS time only. If refused when offered to snakes, do not re-use.

i never reuse when snake refuses because i leave in overnight, by morning theyre never good and i just see no point in it to begin with

Yeah, if you have to leave them overnight definitely don't reuse.

What I meant was that if you warmed them to offer to snakes, or even if they were at room temperature, they should NOT be refrozen. Actually, I'm mostly
opposed to all refreezing, but I understand the spot you're in...and they "remained very cold" so it's not as big of a risk.

gotcha gotcha. if it was only a few believe me i wouldnt be refreezing at all but its like 35-40 mice
