    Deformed Hatchling Coloration Help
    Dear BP.net community,

I was sold a pair of Het Albino Ball Pythons. They are close to 9 years old. I have only bred them twice. First breeding yielded 7 viable eggs out of 9. All 7 eggs turned out to just be normal, no albinos. This past season I ended up with 5 viable eggs out of 6. Of the 5 eggs, only 2 have survived. Two appeared to have drowned in the egg and the third appears to have been deformed from the beginning. The coloration on all 5 of these seemed to indicate they were also normals, no albinos. That would be 12/12 eggs being normal and no albinos which would have been really really bad odds.

So either I have bad luck (~3% odds of no albinos out of 12 eggs) or I was sold a pair of ball pythons that weren't actually het for albino. The third egg, the one that was deformed had an odd coloration anomaly that led me to believe that perhaps something was going on with it and that perhaps they are indeed het for albino and that we just got really unlucky with these two batches. Please take a look at these pics and tell me what is going on with the coloration. It almost looks like a splotch of a different morph intermixed into the "normal" coloration.

I would really appreciate the community's thoughts and opinions. Thanks in advance!
    I appreciate it!

As gruesome as it may be we are going to need out of the egg full body pic of the snakes in question. The one looks pied in the egg other looks like a ringer. But still need full body shots no flash.

sorry for your losses, but we're going to need better pics. [emoji853]

Had to dig them out of the trash, not the most pleasant odor. Here are the best I could get. The snake was pretty deformed... Do these pics help?

Just an extreme ringer like this

As for the het I would give them another season, sometimes odds are just not on your side I know of a few people that produced 20+ eggs before producing a visual.

Thanks so much for the reply... Next stupid question, what is a ringer? Random anomaly? Non-genetic?

Yeah I have to agree with Deb that's just a ringer really nice ringer but it's just a ringer as far as your hets go I believe a while back deb said and don't quote me on this it might not have been deb but someone anyhow had said that they had was it 4 years of a visual to a hat to prove it ahead cuz they hatched all hundred percent hats for the first three years and that's with a 50% chance you're shooting at a 25% chance I would give it a whole lot more eggs than 12 before I called it your odds are only one and eight so technically you shouldn't even have had to visuals yet by the odds

A ringer is just a random abnormality on a snake some people believe that it indicates the presence of another Gene that is recessive sometimes and sometimes not the case it's about as reliable as het pied markers you can't go by it that doesn't mean it isn't there but it doesn't mean that it is either it's just random and nice funky little thing that happens

    StillBP,

Thanks for your reply as well. Not sure I understand your math. You said 1 in 8 odds, but isn't it 1 in 4 (25%) per egg? So for 12 eggs the odds that ALL 12 eggs are normal would be 0.75^12 or about 3%. So it should have been like 97% chance of getting an albino. Am I doing the math wrong?

    Thanks again for your input!

Yeah it's 1/4 my brain got fried I'm doing 4 things at once I said 25% and then I said 1 and 8 its 1 and 4 even still with 12 eggs you can't call that I'd wait till I get about 30 eggs personally if it 30 you haven't produced the visual you're not going to or buying albino and put the visual to the het. This way you have a 50% chance and if you hatch one or two clutches like that and get nothing you don't have anything
