    What is your favorite UTH?
So I came home to Mr Snakety snake's hot side heat pad burnt out. it was an exo terra x large hooked up to a herpstat 6. and this is the second one in the last couple months. to me this is a signal to switch companies.

that being said, who is your most trusted or favorite brand of UTH? (exo terra aficionados need not reply) (jk:sarcasm:)

the heat pad was on the left side really just to block the view and stop heat loss through the glass on that side. one has been running on the opposite side for about 6 months with no problems. 3 months ago I added one the left side and it has burnt out twice now. both are the 25 watt exo Terras on a herpstat 6. the probes are set up and set identical on each side. stays about 76 on the cool side and when the heat pad was working about 85 ambiently on the hot side and about 95 under the hot spot.
as I reread what I just typed I am imagining a RHP would be better for this situation. I assume pro products is the way to go?
I was surprised by your rec of ultra therm when I have heard so much about rbi equipment causing cookoffs or fires.

Ultra therm for sure and I use a UTH and RHP

    ON every tank

some may say overkill I say why not.

uth won't really work under this tank. it has about 6-8" of substrate including lava rock and false bottom. hence them being on the side. other than blocking heat loss, it really didn't do much, especially for belly heat. but the whole time I've owned the inhabitant in question he has had side mounted UTHs with no negative side effects.

I could find a way to block off that left side with something else. I have a few gorgeous pieces of, like, 15 year old sun dried black walnut wood that would work well.
this might just be the excuse I need to plumb an eth into the water feature that is soon to come.

Heat tape will be useless for that cage. You need to run a RHP with it.

As for favorite UTH, i prefer Flexwatt. For premade stuff, either Ultratherm or Fluker.

Agreed. I only used them to stop heatloss and screen the tank views since the exo terras are black.
From reading through the threads here it seems like yall prefer pro products to rbi.
