    how old / feeding advice?
I bought my first corn snake earlier this week, and I'm super excited about it! However, I'm not totally sure how old she is, nor does the store I purchased her from, and I was curious as to whether any of you guys could offer some insight. (Picture below!)

On another note, based on how big around she is, I have no idea what type of food she should be eating. I also can't find a good chart for growth, so I don't know how fast she'll grow from now forward. Any input on this would be much appreciated :))

    Congrats!
This snake is hatchling size and can eat newborn mouse pinks every 5 days. You can buy a bulk of 30 f/t pinks if you want. Even if the snake outgrows eating one pink at a time, you can double up and feed two at a time until they're finished, which is what I'm doing with my rat snake.

Congrats on the new corn. What morph is that?

The age you can't really tell just by looking at size. A rough guess would be under 6 months old. A snake that has just been maintenance fed vs fed as a pet vs power fed will all look different.

A general rule to follow for corns is feeding up to 1.5 times the size of their head diameter. I would start it with pinks as redshepard said. If you get a scale you can roughly use this chart to guide you on the size of prey you should be feeding.

    Sample Feeding Plan (Munson Plan)

-When the snake is on single pinks (2-3g), I feed every 5-6 days. (Snake = 4-15g)
    -Double pinks (3g x 2) every 5-6 days. (Snake = 16-23g)
    -Small fuzzies (5-7g) every 6-7 days. (Snake = 24-30g)
    -Regular fuzzies (7-9g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 30-50g)
    -Hoppers (9-12g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 51-90g)
    -Weaned (14-20g) every 7 days (Snake = 91-170g)
    -Adult (20-30g) every 7-x days (Snake = 170+)

agreed, I always started my hatchling corns on mouse pinks. Stubborn starters usually always took a meal when placed in a very small brown paper bag with a live pink (in case you have any issues).
Little cutie! snow? blizzard? I think snow

Side note - I had never seen 'food charts' for snakes in my 20 years of keeping until I came to this site. I don't think it's the norm. Generally, it's always a feeder no bigger than the widest part of the snake's body.

Corns are usually about 12 inches long when they hatch and double that length in the first year if properly fed. That works out to an inch in length per month. On the other hand, snakes in the pet trade are often not properly fed. If you can get the snake to stretch out against the back of her cage and measure that distance, you can get an approximate minimum age. This is only good for the first year, though.

Just from the picture, I'd guess that snake is this year's hatch.
