Going through everyone’s enclosures I saw that Daenerys thermometer read that on her hot spot.....the flipping jumpstart crapped out on me cause we had a power surge last night.....but the Leo’s jumpstart crapped out and killed the power to the heat mat....Daenerys is safe and has been on her cool side the past few days..... WTH?!?! Now I freaked out and looking to get the Herp 6 for the 6 snakes on the racks and an ez for Daenerys....this scared the [emoji90]outta me

Yeah, all it takes is one close call to push the "submit" button on the Herpstat order. I did the same when my Jumpstart failed on me. Good thing I obsessively check temps and caught it right away, but still. All that holding out on ordering a Herpstat immediately went out the window when I was that close to cooking my beloved snake.

I love the Herpstat so much, I kick myself for not getting it sooner.

at least you caught it before any damage was done! a Jumpstart failure is not an "if" but a "when," folks!

I almost cried when I ordered the Herpstat 4, but now I feel good about it. Thank you Aerries for sharing.

    Glad everyone is ok.

I recently picked up this Accurite Temperature and Humidity Station with 3 Indoor Sensors for $50 on Amazon. Not only does it allow you to monitor three enclosures individually and together in a single display station, it also has visual and auditory hi/lo alarms. So far it's working ok.

That's a thermometer, Aerries thermostat failed.

I understand that. His Jumpstart thermostat failed leaving his heat mat running at 100%. My thought was that a temperature/humidity gauge with with hi/lo visual and auditory alarms might have alerted him well before his temp hit 150+ degrees.

Fortunately, Daenerys wasn't harmed. Hi/lo alarms are just another layer of protection.

I'm glad none of your critters were hurt Aerries. How long did you have the jumpstart? I've used 6 of them for the past 5+ years and haven't had one fail yet. Also, which UTH do you use? One reason I like Ultratherm uths is they don't go much over 100F even if they're running wide open.
