Shedding ?????

I tried feeding Baby again. She finally ate around 9/2 and hasn't eaten since. The rat pup was too big (again) *sigh* GRRRRRRR!!! but I have a couple of mice I tried on Friday afternoon. She didn't eat, but this morning when I got home from work, her eyes were going blue.

Sooooooooo. how long after she sheds before she might eat again...I KNOW it varies from critter to critter, but a rough idea would be nice. My TWO RATS don't stink NEAR as much as these two little meese furballs, and I'd REEEEEAAALLY like to feed 'em and get rid of them.

some people feed during shed and some people wait til' after.
It is basically up to you and your snake. If the snake wont eat....it just wont eat :)

My normal male and female are completely different. One will eat during shed...one wont...like I said...It all depends on you and your snake :)

Usually once a snake sheds they are good to eat almost immediately. I've never noticed any reluctance to feed post shed. Usually (if they don't feed during a shed) they are more than ready for food as soon as the shed is off.

Monty just had his first bad shed (and second shed), hopefully his last. I was on call over the weekend and got home to a tank full of small scattered pieces of shed and an unhappy looking snake with large patches of retained shed. I soaked him for an hour or so and although he clearly loathed every second I have now got it all off except for a small patch on the back of his neck. Hopefully he will take care of that himself now, if not I will have another go in a day or so. A lesson learned on bumping up humidity at first sign of shed :(

Last bit of shed removed form his neck (he is okay touching him elsewhere but he really didn't like the upper neck - was kinda worried he would strike my finger). Luckily he hadmanaged his head all on his own.
He looks so pretty when freshly shed.
He can't have been too stressed by it all though as he took the last of the rat pups the other night.
Next week it is time for the weaners (which seems to be the equivalent of going from happy meal to tripple decker quarter pounder).

Thanks for all the tips, guys!!!! :D I had to go out of town for my grandfather's funeral & when I was leaving her eyes were just clearing, so I know she was about to shed, but there wasn't anything I could do (with the setup & equip that I have). My roommate was going to keep the humidity up, but didn't. :mad: When I got home Thur. found Baby all wrinkly, crackly and her skin was baggy like she was dehydrated. Soaked and peeled her, and she's doing just fine now. She ate the two mice when I offered them on Thurs. right after her peeling session. *Whew* Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! Guess even tho' the other owner said she'd eat juvie rats, mice are more her size...but those two mice sure stank a LOT more than my two rats. I'm going to set things up and start breeding rats, feeding them to baby when they're fuzzies/smaller pups. Once I've gotten her eating regularly, I'm going to work on getting her to the F/T. :)
