    Is this normal?
Is it normal to have to turn my thermostat up to 96 degrees to have my hot spot be 88 degrees? I feel like I have to turn it way up just to get it the right temperature...
The thermostat I'm using is the Herpstat 1.

It can be, especially if there is a lot of air around the probe, or there is an air gap between the heat tape and the tub (which happens in racks), or if that one point on the heat tape/UTH runs a bit hotter than the rest of it.

Yeah, that's not too crazy. It seems a tad high, but nothing crazy.

If it is a rack with continuous heat tape, you may want to check that none of the other tubs are running hot.

Yes. This is common. I put my probe directly on my heat tape. So I have to have mine set much higher to get the proper hot spot temp.

Just be sure that you are measuring the temperature on the glass and not on the substrate.

Do you use a digital temp gun to take temps ??https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ee60a9529d.jpg

When Freddy was in a tub, I would set the VE-200 to 90F and the hot spot would be 90F. When he got his T8, I had to bump up the VE-200 to 99F to get the same 90F. Now that I got a Herpstat 4, I' set it to 90F to get 90F in the same T8.
