6500 gram ball python, possible world record?
I was just browsing through the ball pythons on Morphmarket and clicked on this pied female. Apparently it came from a female pied that weighs 6500 grams. She laid 19 eggs and the clutch of eggs weighed 2000 grams! This is by far the biggest ball python I've ever heard of, very unusual for a pied too. They are calling it their 'Big Bertha' line.

Well, I once read that the biggest ever weighed was a 8100g sub Saharan female... but I can't find any photo evidence to prove it.

I used to have a Rescue that weighed 4500 gr. She looked huge ! Had a very big head for a BP.

She laid a clutch while in my care (Surprise...) and the clutch weighed a whopping 1400 gr. 6 eggs, one went bad. Largest hatchling weighted 116 gr out of the egg, smallest one 89 gr.

I absolutely believe that size is genetic. And that there is a line (whether that is geographically related or not) that grows bigger BP's. Not talking about fat/obese ones either, just bigger all around with really big heads.

I have a male that is bigger, always grew faster and bigger then my other hatchlings (all same year, all same diet), too.

From way back I remember a Jared (forgot last name) having a HUGE Ball Python female named Big Bertha. The pic is still floating out there, somewhere...

Well, I know that volta/sub Sahara bps get huge, and I've seen some really big pastels, I am not sure if there are any other morphs or localities known for size.

That is our line of giants listed in the ad. We have quite a few Pieds over 4500 grams from this line. One of our 4 year old females was 3800 grams as of last fall. I've seen one other ball python larger than our Bertha. She's a 6800 grams Spider owned by Gary Smith. The absolute largest Volta I've seen was right around 5000 grams. I've heard for years there was one over 8000 but there has yet to be any actual evidence.

I really had no idea how much Bertha weighed until her last clutch. I knew she was close to 6000 because that all our scale goes to. I had to weigh her and the clutch separately to get the accurate number. I have a picture of me holding her on our facebook page and our instagram pages. I took the pic holding her against my body so there is no forced perspective. The first question most people ask is "how tall are you?lol". I'm 6'1" without shoes.
