    Shed Help!!!
Ok so my noodle is doing great. he has eaten every time I have offered so that's 4 times now. Anyway I am still very new to this so I think he may be coming up on his first shed but i'm not sure. I noticed a couple of days ago he was acting really weird. I fed him last Sunday and gave him 48 hours before I bothered him. usually he comes out of his hide when I get home from work but lately he hasn't. I pulled his hide out from over him and stroked his side a little. He balled up which was weird because since I got him he has never balled up. I figured he needed a extra day to digest so I left him alone. Thursday he was still staying in his hide so I went to take a look at him and noticed he was dull and his eyes were grey not blue. I figured this was him going into shed so I put him back in his home. Today I looked at him and he looks back to normal. Is he still in shed? What do I need to do for him. Bump up the humidity, soak him. I just don't know. I just want him to have a good shed but idk if he is even in shed. :tears:

At the first sign of shed bump humidity to 70%.

    Steps in shed:
pink belly (can be no pink to a salmon pink depending on the snake)
    dull or ashy skin
    eyes turn blue/grey (in blue)
    eyes return to normal
    shed

    Also ...

In shed they lose their colour ( albinos not so much ) and their eyes glaze over - some say they go blue .

Anyways as soon as their eyes clear up and they regain their colour I simply start spraying their viv well each morning, evening and bedtime until the shedded skin comes off in one messy lump ( usually found under a hide ) .

I would definitely bump up the humidity and start misting, as Zincubus suggested. The entire shedding process takes a week+, but the actual shedding shouldn't take more than a few hours. Be sure to watch for the eye caps and end of the tail being shed properly. :)

I'd guess 4 to 7 days after the eyes clear / snake colour returns .

Basically, the process goes as follows for BPs: first you may see a pinkish hue to their bellies. Then their color should start to look pretty dull, followed by eyes turning cloudy or "in blue". Next, their eyes clear up and they look normal, not dull any more. After a few days they will shed.

The whole process takes some snakes longer than others, but generally takes somewhere from 7-14 days. My BP, Tyson, for example is a quick shedder. From pink belly to shed is typically 8 or 9 days. He went 10 once. He usually sheds the second day after his eyes clear. Some will take a week after their eyes clear.

As for ensuring a clean, full shed, it's quite simple: proper husbandry. If your temps and humidity are in proper ranges and the enclosure is kept clean you'll get a full shed pretty much every time. Bump humidity to 70% or so as soon as you see the pink belly or the eyes go blue. I also like to add damp sphangnum moss in their hides during this time.

Mine a min of 2 weeks. This includes several days of skin wrinkling & eyes starting to cloud over.
