Question re Adult Females and Substrate
Just a little oddity here. Our three bigger females (Brannagh 02, Saoirse 02 and Orlah 03) are doing this kinda different thing the last couple of nights.
Every morning I find their substrate (aspen) sort of pushed up in mounds or rather sort of ummm big waves of substrate. Sorry stupid description but I can't figure out how to describe what they are up to.
The younger 03 and the 05 females aren't doing this so what's up with my big girls? They just all sort of started to do this (though not as apparent with Brannagh as she's got all those newspaper balls to push around).
They all seem to be tucked up in their hides when I do my morning rounds but they are up to something the sneaky ladies! LOL

Re: Question re Adult Females and Substrate
It's normal. That's how they keep themselves busy.
Remember, each individual snake is different. Some mess around with the things in their cages, some don't.

Re: Question re Adult Females and Substrate
Thanks Adam. Seems I have a few "Martha Stewart" girlies then LOL! Wasn't sure if this was some sort of fall time big girl activity so I thought I'd ask.

Re: Question re Adult Females and Substrate
Martha Stewart girlies. How funny! :D At least they are not playing hide the accurite. ;)
Re: Question re Adult Females and Substrate
one of my bigger girls somehow manages to put one of her hides on top of her water bowl just about every night. i had to get her a super heavy untippable water bowl because before that she enjoyed flipping it upside down every night instead. silly girls.
Re: Question re Adult Females and Substrate
My '03 girl does that every night. It looks like a 3 year old kid was playing in her cage, lol.
Re: Question re Adult Females and Substrate
LMAO I swear I have had the following "conversation" with one of the bigger girls....(she had managed to shove her hides all over the tub)...
"Look you nutsy snake they said to put one of these on the cool side and one on the warm side...so...GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!!"
Note to self: talking to one's snake about husbandry is just pointless...the snake could care less and your family starts mentioning meds again!
