    Question about laws
I want to start breeding ball pythons and was wondering at what point do I need a permit or license to sell/keep snakes. I'm currently living in Hammond Indiana. Most of the information I habe found is about permits to hunt or collect native species. But can't find much on selling or keeping ball pythons

Really depends on the city and state you live in, for example, where I live, I can't keep retics, burms, scrub pythons, most large monitor lizards, venomous reptiles, or crocodillians, but can do whatever I want with ball pythons. The way I found this out was through google, most laws are posted online in government websites.

Actually, from what I can find, you need a special licence for venomous reptiles and any crocodillian over 5 feet long... but other than that it appears you can keep just about anything. Lol

Just stopping by to say hi! I'm also in NWI, actually used to live in Hammond for a couple of years. :)

Cool stuff. Have you found info on ball pythons in the area?

I haven't, but there are a bunch of IN B/S/T groups on Facebook, whether about BPs or reptiles in general. The Midwest Reptile Show page (out of Indianapolis) is also very active. The only regulations I've come across in IN specifically pertain to wild-caught animals, venomous animals, native species, etc.

As far as I know there are no regulations on Ball Pythons in any state. Some real estate owners may prohibit them in rental agreements, but other than that I've never heard of anything else. The only restrictions that I know of are for large snakes like reticulated pythons and Burmese pythons, or for wild caught snakes or snakes native to your state.
