    Retained Eye Caps
I just took in a ball python who has retained eye caps.

Any tips on what to do?

My current ball has never had this but with stuck shed in other places I was told to put her in a wet pillow case with towes which sounded good in theory but didn't much.

I eventually ended up using the damp towel to gently pet it off.
That doesn't sound safe for the eyes.

Techniques? Wait until next shed? Vet?

    Thanks ☆

The damp towel actually works well for retained eye caps tbh .

You don't actually 'rub' the eye caps off though .. just enclose the whole snake in a damp , rough textured towel / cloth and let it slither around inside for a while ... all this time you can apply very , very gentle pressure to the head area and the eye caps will come off on the towel .

I've seen a few YouTube videos on this exact method. I believe Snake Discovery had to do it on a rescued Boa, and she was able to get stubborn caps off. So perhaps check some of those out for technique.
