Ever Feed Them Eggs?

Curious if any owners have fed their Carpet Pythons eggs before? Looked into it online and many cases of Carpets eating eggs from nests in the wild and owners trying it and were successful but curious if anyone on this forum has tried it.

Not asking as a replacement options for rats but more as a treat or a change up?

Also if you tried it, was it a complete mess, and what time of egg?

I was just thinking about this last week, only for curiosity sake, not as an option.

I’m not interested in experimenting with eggs myself.

Yeah almost exactly how I was thinking, would only have tried it if I got like 10 responses from Veterans all saying they have and it worked well.
Not going to experiment on my own lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, I believe you've fed your snakes Quail before, is it the same process as thawing out a rat? Do you ever cut the beak off to be safe?

No need to cut the beak off. Your snake will know what to do. Mine loves quail so much, he often knocks the head right off! But he always goes back for it ;)

When I feed thawed chicks I cut their heads off as soon as I buy them frozen - then when I come to fee them to the snakes I'm basically offering a ball of feathers rather than a cute little chick !!

Hahaha, I have a bag of day chicks (chicken, not quail) in the freezer because I bought them without realizing how large they’d be. I’ve had them in there for months because my snakes are too small for them just yet. Last week, I decided to try to feed one to my finicky Dumeril’s and I cut the head and legs off to make it smaller. Seems like a win so far, but I do feel a bit like dexter ;) I’ll probably feed the leftover parts to the scrub this week.

Yeah my supplier has more quail than rats available and said she can give me an excellent deal if I keep buying from her. We're talking 4 Quail for the same price as a Colossal Rat, but if I'm not mistaken a Quail can't replace a Rat permanently correct?

Also I've heard that birds will make your snakes droppings extremely smelly, has that been true with your snakes?

No, birds wont replace the sheer meat mass of a rat or rabbit or guinea pig. They are more just for variety or treats. And none of my snakes have had smellier poop than normal after eating chicks and quails.
