Say I want a live look in...
Do any of you have or use a certain type of light or have any suggestions for if/when we want a live look in during the evening hours when the snakes are active.
Thunder is currently in a glass cage w a red heat lamp that’s soon to be no more. My other 2 are in Plastic cages that aren’t lit. I started hearing so many back and forth stories about color lights and if they see them or don’t. I didn’t want to add more to the tank than necessary by way of light strips and chords and all that. So I didn’t add any lighting. Yet my snakes are rather active in the evening and it would be mice to peer in yet not spook or disturb.

    Any and all suggestions welcome....

I use the dark purple lights. They illuminate just enough that I can see what's going on in the enclosures. I'll try to get you some pics. Unfortunately my laptop crapped the bed and most pics are on a flash drive. I'll probably have to check after work though....

I've been using the Exo Terra Full Moon and I'm really happy with it. It gives of a more naturalistic feeling while also illuminating just enough in order to see. This was also the light that bothered my snake the least.

I’ve been using Zoo Med red bulbs for years with no ill effects what so ever. At it definitely makes them visible in the evening. 😉

It needs to be plugged in but the cable is pretty thin so it doesn't bother much.
The set includes the lamp and a magnet. I personally glued the magnet to the ceiling and then just "added" the lamp. The moonlight doesn't have a light switch. It reacts to how much light there is. If it's dark the moonlight will switch on automatically and if it's bright it will turn off.
The light itself is very pretty. If you have look at what it's like, you can find people on YouTube showing of the light :)
The only problem I have with the moonlight is that the plug is quite big and you cannot temporarily detach the cable or the plug. That makes the whole fixture a bit more complicated.
