    caging question for Hondos
I want to move my hondos into their forever home which will be a CB70 rack from Reptile Basics. My hondos are pretty young yet but are getting crowded in their current tubs. I realize that the CB70 tubs are pretty large but was wondering if Hondos get stressed like BP's do. Mine both seem really chill.

I would like to move them and be done once and for all. No more upgrades needed.

Just wanted to check with you all. They will have multiple hides in their tubs also.

how big are they? are they at least at the size where they are taking adult mice? my concern is if they were any smaller, they would be so hard to find and track in a 40quart CB70.

if they are up to size, i think that's fine as long as it's a rack system set up just for Hondo's and not different species operating off of the same heat source.

    Edit:

They are pretty small. They are still take fuzzy mice. They are currently in a RBI VE2 Rack.

Since this is an RBI rack I am pretty certain it is escape proof. The tubs fit tightly.

Do you think they would get stressed in a larger tub.

what size tub are u currently using with the VE2? i think that's a modular rack system that allows u to use different size tubs if u wanted? what substrate are u using and plan to use? how do u feed them?

unless your husbandry is god awful, i don't think they will stress easily if left alone. but in a large tub, it might be hard for u to feed or for them to find prey. my colubrids including my Hondo are not waiting at the front of the enclosure like some of my BP's on feed day. but if u keep bugging them to find and feed them, i think that can be stressful.

They are currently in the 11qt tubs. They are voracious eaters. Always ready to eat. I feed every 5th day f/t mouse fuzzy. Never have any refusals.

I use reptile prime for bedding and provide multiple hides.

This rack can handle a bigger tub but only has two slots for the bigger tubs and I need three slots

for me, smaller is better and i adjust size of enclosure as they grow. moving from 11 to 40quarts may be a big jump but Hondo's are tough lil beasts. i would suggest try the CB70 if u are set on it right now but keep the VE2 around as a backup (don't sell it yet) if they start acting wierd and stressed and u need to move them back.

RBI sells dividers for the tubs. That may be the answer. Your thoughts

if it's secure enough and they can't burrow beneath it or squeeze over it to go to the other side, that sounds like a good option.
