    Mites?
I just bought a Lavender Albino 2017 female and she is gorgeous!
She seems perfectly healthy and I trust the vivivarium I bought her from to have excellent husbandry, but when I was looking at her scales I noticed some tiny little specks. Does she have mites? Or is it just discoloration?? What would the recommendation be if she does have mites?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...70684d0cea.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...55e98ad3a9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7554e40311.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5da514bf8c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...787500f5c7.jpg

They don't wipe off and I haven't noticed any movement

I'm not sure, I thought only the banana Gene had freckles, but I'll look into it and see if albinos have them, too

I rubbed at the area with my finger and nothing came off or seemed to shift positions

Okay, I got a few of the specks out using water and noticed that there were specks in her water bowl as well. I still haven't noticed any movement, but at this point I think it's safe to assume she has mites. I'm going to go to the store and pick up some PAM and Reptile Relief.

Are you certain they're mites ?

Had she been soaking for the mites to be in the water bowl ? Soaking CAN be an indication of mites ..

Have you tried 'squashing' them with your nail or spoon on a white paper towel and checked for blood?

Just wondered if the specks were simply bits of substrate with them not moving .. they do generally move but very , very slowly sometimes ..

    Re: Mites?
I'm 80% sure they're mites. She's been soaking in her water dish, and the specks I've managed to rub off seem about the right size to be mites, even if I haven't noticed any movement. I got the supplies and treated her, just to be safe, so within a day or two I should know for sure if they're gone by then.

I called the guy at the vivarium and he said they're probably dead mites left over after treatment at the store. I've checked a few times but still haven't seen any movement or change in position so I think he's probably right. Some of the specks have come off since last night and I don't see any new ones.
