Replacing heat tape on a TGR Rack
I have the new heat tape but am wondering how am I supposed to adhere it to the platform that it sits on?? Do I glue it or double sided tape it?? Just curious.
Thanks.

Bump - can anyone help with this. Thanks
Re: Replacing heat tape on a TGR Rack
i'd probably use hot glue instead of tape IMO. tape can be a hassle to work with, especially years later.
you'd probably have to glue and lay the tape down in sections which might be tedious but i think it'll last longer that way.
hope this helped. [emoji4]

Thank you. I wondered if the glue would remelt from the heat of the mat??

personally i use Gorilla high-temp glue sticks with my lil glue gun, and on regulated heat tape any melting scenarios shouldn't be an issue.

Actually when I removed the faulty heat tape there was still an adhesive present so I just stuck the new one on it. I will definitely use your idea should I ever need to redo it
I am finally firing up my tgr rack after having it for 8 months. RBI wired new heat tape for me so now I can trust it. Lol
Thanks for your help

on/off thermostats usually lessen the lifespan of any electrical appliance they're controlling, or at least compromise it, as it forces the appliance to run at 100% or 0% at all times. IMO this won't be as detrimental to heat tape as, say, an RHP, but id rather run proportional thermostats if i can.
id upgrade the thermostat as soon and you possibly can IMO.

Yeah I agree. I happened to have this one and money is tight right now with multiple vet visits for my dogs. I'm broke right now.

honestly you can last a year+ with a cheap thermostat, but you need to check it daily - hopefully more often - to ensure it's functioning as it's supposed to. EVERY. DAY.
