CHE to up the ambient temperature?
Could and should I use a CHE to get the ambient temperature up in the winter?

Our house isn't the newest and sometimes gets relatively chilly in the winter.
Should I use a ceramic heat emitter to get the temp up?

If yes, how high of a wattage would be enough? how much would a ~50w "bulb" heat? I'll be having a UTH too as the main heat source.

I've looked up some CHE "bulbs", and some said to only use it with a cage-like cover. could I also use a regular heating lamp dome?

Would I need a thermostat? Even on lower wattages that don't heat too hot?

I'll be getting my first snake soon, and still have many questions I need answered before i get it.

If you can't get ambient temps in at least the upper 70s, I would use it. Every heat source needs a thermostat, even the lower wattage CHEs. The wattage you'll need depends on your enclosure, last time I used one I had a 75W on a 10g and I could get adequate temps fine with it.

What type of set up? Glass?

YES YOU NEED A THERM for any and all heating.

You need to to make sure the element you are using can hold the bulb. Make sure wattages match up and make sure it’s ok for ceramic. Some aren’t and it will melt it and cause major issues.

Really need to know more about your set up

what is the temp in the room now ?

I'll be using a glass terrarium, 90x45x30cm // 36x18x12inch, planning on having a UTH and then CHE in the winter if needed.
At the moment my room is aroimd 18-22 degrees celius, can get colder in the winter.
The socket thing for the "bulb" would be porcelain and 150w or 250w. Do I need a dome or that wire frame? and can I put it on the mesh top directly or is it best to hang it?
