Any ideas? Blisters/sores
Picked up this ball python on Friday from a less then ideal situation. I will call the vet when they are open on Monday to try and make an appointment. But anyone have any experience with these and have any idea what they could be? She was in a tank with very wet substrate almost mildewy smell and little to no added heat. There was a heat pad under the tank but when I touched it it was cold. I have her on just paper towel with a hide and water bowl right now until I can get a hold of the vet. These are solely around her head and neck. With only 2 more further down her body. They don't seem tender when I held her and tried getting a better look at them. DO NOT treat that with antiseptic or any other liquid like betadine or hydrogen peroxide before having a vet diagnose this. Anything that can be cytotoxic (destroys cells) can cause more irritation or inflammation. Make an appointment monday and find out what it really is.
For now remove all substrate, dry out the cage and put this animal on paper to keep it sanitary.
She is on paper now and I did let her sit in warm water when I got her home for a few min while I got everything set up. I have not applied anything. And I will be calling them tomorrow to make an appointment. Luckily enough our local vet office has an exotics vet on staff. I just can't afford to make it an emergency appointment by bringing her in on the weekend. That doubles, if not more than doubles, the cost of the visit.

Many people call an animal a “rescue” simply because the healthy animal they have aquired was in less than ideal conditions.
Now, adopting an animal with serious disease, now THAT is a rescue.
You have a huge heart, and i hope your new pet recovers l.

Quick update on this girl. So she's been on paper towels since Friday night in a sterile tank with appropriate heat. Her sores have dried up quite a bit and the blisters are definetely smaller. Here are a couple of pictures. The vet can't see her till Saturday morning. But I'm thinking she will be fine until then. She's lively and a bit skiddish when holding and acts normal in the tank. I don't hear any breathing problems and no discharge from her nose/mouth. I wasn't able to get a good look at her before now. Still looks bad, but I definitely an improvement. Less swelling and inflammation for sure. Great job on your husbandry, i hope the vet knows what to do to get healed for good.
