Tucked in top lip after feeding
Hi guys,
I was wondering if you could help be identify what's up with Julius Squeezer's lip - it might be nothing but better safe than sorry. Last night was feeding day (frozen thawed) and he's never missed a meal for the year I've had him but he's often had some derpy eating moments. Last night while he was eating he was carrying the rat periscope style and it fell from his mouth. He ate it fine after, he's been acting as usual since but his top lip on the right hand side is slightly tucked in today. I've seen him yawn since and it's still like that. I'm just wondering what it could be. Maybe a tooth got stuck on the rat when it dropped or something? I know the obvious answer is to open his mouth and look but he's very headshy and I don't want to do anything so soon after he's eaten that would agitate him and cause a regurge. What do you think? Is it something to be concerned about? I've attached some images below:

Re: Tucked in top lip after feeding
I've seen something similar with mine a few times over the years and it's sorted itself out over the following day or so ..
Maybe someone else will have advice ... maybe a trip to the vet if you can't find some info online ??

Thank you, thats reassuring. Yep of course, if it doesn't sort itself out soon it'll be a vet trip for sure.
Re: Tucked in top lip after feeding
Sometimes their jaws get kinda crumpled when feeding and sometimes they strike and hit something like the glass or bulb cage and get kinda knocked out of place temporarily ... pretty sure they dislocate their jaws as well at feeding time so it could be any of the above ..
I've read of some Retics who get their jaws a bit crumpled by pressing their faces against the sides trying to get out of their enclosure - they also resolve themselves after a while when changes to the enclosure are made ..

Re: Tucked in top lip after feeding
He didn't really hit anything while feeding, it was just the rat drop really. Also he hasn't made any attempts at escaping, he's been quite chill (I was up most of the night playing games so I kept an eye on him). It's just really strange. Thank you for all the info though, that does help and could be possibilities.

Is it me or does that look like the scale itself pushed in a little. I say no biggy...

Update: As of this morning his lip has gone back to normal. Thank you all of the help (and putting my mind as ease). :)
