    hides
okay so as you may or may not know, I got a BP this weekend. I have two hides for it and since Sat. morning he hasn't been in his hide for more than an hour tops. When I first got him home, I put him next to the entrance of one w/ an UTH under it and fifteen min. later I come back and he's more interested in climbing on his branch. He is almost always there and at night I watch him he's all climbing or crawling or something. This morning he is balled up in the corner of the tank where there was no heat from underneath, and right next to his hide.

What in the world is going on? I thought all BPs liked their hides but apparantly mine couldn't care less. One is a shoue box from my 2 year old daughters shoues and the other is a very small hide I got from Petco, so I don't think they are too roomy or anything. I really don't care if he goes in it or not it's just seems unusual.

I'm thinking that he may be used to having people around (he is in a pretty high traffic area of the house) and not having a hide since I've noticed the store (Scails and Tails in Colorado) often doesn't have hides for their BPs.

What do you think? Also, he doesn't really stay on the side w/ the heater I mean I have all the options for him, if he chooses the cooler side and no hide he should be fine right?

My BP goes in spurts as to using her hide. She will use it 90% of the time but for the 10% she totally ignores it and spends the days balled up in one of the corners. As for which side, she spends most of the time on the cool side but will bask on the warms side. I keep the warm side at 90 degrees and the cool side at 80-83 with a 50-60 % humidity.

The hides are probably too large. They like small tight spaces ... trying something that looks like it would be too small and he'll probably love it!
