    RI or Clogged nose??
My kingsnake hasen't eaten the past two weeks so I took her out to give her a look over and notice a popping sound everytime she exhales. There's also visible brownish "clogging" her nostrils almost like substrate has gotten into them? I can't tell if it's substrate or a result of RI. I've never had this happen before.

Update: She just shed and all the gunk clogging her nose came out as well and she's back to breathing normal. I was in the middle of making a vet appointment when I noticed the shed. I changed her bedding to paper so that doesn't happen again. Cleaning out her tank I noticed a bunch o smaller fibers/dust at the bottom which was probably what got in her nostrils when she burrows. I'm gonna keep an eye on her though just in case.

    Phew. Glad everything worked out.

    Yeah, watch the dust!

Very hard for colubrids to get RI's unless conditions are really bad.

As long as temps are ok, they can usually withstand some wide humidity changes.

Good luck and thank you for updating that all is good!

That used to happen to my kingsnakes alot pre-shed, especially during the lower humidity times of the year.

As the skin loosens, the nostrils can get partially closed up with the old skin, and then dust can clog easier. I think there is more mucous at that time as well?

A moist, warm hide helps during that time.
