    Black heat lamp 24/7?
Right now I have my 2 month old bp in a 20gal long tank, I know day and night cycles are important for them, and so I have a day and night lamp that I switch out. But I'm in the Army and I go to the field a lot, so I have my wife do it when I can't. I was thinking, to make it easier on my wife, can I keep the black night heat bulb on 24/7 as long as I open the shades to keep the natural light cycle going and so she doesn't have to swap lamps?

I think the ambient lighting in your room should be enough, I just have a CHE on my bp's tank and I leave it at that.

If you really want it simple get the CHE heat bulb. Thats No light and all you need is the light from the windows. You dont even have to open blinds, they let enough through for a snake.. They stay in a Hole all day and come out at night.

I’ve used red bulbs for years, so I see no reason why not. 🙂

You can, it's not an issue. If you do particularly want additional light for your snake, you can set up a separate light and put it on a timer. I use the one below to turn my ball python's cage light on and off personally. Not required at all though. He'd do fine with ambient.
