    Boa hiding/in shed
Hi, I fed my year old boa last Monday and he has been hiding under his warm hide ever since. I am keeping his humidity at at least 70-80, his eyes were blue three days ago but he hasn't shed yet. The eyes are now clear and he looks pretty normal but I don't see any skin around. Should I be doing something to help him? The cool side is 78 and the warm spot is 88ish.

The last step in the shedding process comes up to a week after their eyes clear out. Be patient - he will be fine.

On another note, you may want to get a temp gun so that you can be sure of your temps.

When you say 88ish - that is cause for concern. You need to know your temps - not guess. A temp gun is an invaluable tool in this hobby.

    Good luck to you.

Ok that's good to know. I do have a temp gun, the temps on the warm side (on the glass) vary from 84-89. Am I able to hold him when his eyes are clear or should I leave him alone?

Better to just leave alone until they shed, IMO

More or less everything has been said in the posts above .. I'd just add to spray the viv a few times every day after the eyes clear until you find the skin one day ..

Ok sounds good, I'll let him be! I haven't held him in over a week. I'm having withdrawal lol.

Definitely best to let him be until he sheds. I have read that holding right before a shed can actually result in an incomplete shed. Plus, I would think it would be uncomfortable for the snake. Let him be and let him do his thing. He will look marvelous once he is finished and then you can hold him.:):)

Now I'm looking after 20 ... thankfully I've just about got my collection where I want it ..

Just a Pied Royal , a brilliant white BEL Royal ... maybe a Woma python ... a Hypo Grey banded King snake and I'm done .... oh and a Hypo Red BRB of course ..
