Tips for getting water stains off glass???
Hey all, I'm getting Cosmo's forever enclosure ready. He'll be going into a HUGE 10 gallon I had kicking around.

My question is: any tips on getting those annoying water stains off the glass?

I use Healthy Habitat. Works fine on glass and plexi.

    Couple of ways:

Vinegar and baking soda into a loose paste. Apply it on and let it sit for like 5 minutes. Rub off with newspaper.

Vinegar, lemon juice and mild dish soap. Spray on and let sit for a few minutes. Rinse off with distilled water and dry with paper towels or newspaper.

Vinegar and distilled water for light spots. If the spots are not that caked on try that first. It's a safe alternative to windex.

    Razor blade for stubborn spots.

The thing is those spots are alkaline mineral deposits so attacking them with acid will help dissolve it.

Thanks, I knew I had read something about vinegar. They aren't bad, so that should work. I was mostly just worried it would show up in pictures, hahaha

Thanks! Since I switched to a pump sprayer as opposed to a spray bottle I don't get the stains on my glass anymore, but this was an old tank with some old stains. Came off beautifully with vinegar!
