    enchi gene here?
I have a ball python on hold, fully paid for, just waiting for the weather to warm up before she is shipped across the country. The morph is Kalabash (obvious from photo) Enchi (I don't see it), 100% Het piebald, (easy to determine from the recessive pairing).

These are my photos, but I am having a difficult time seeing the Enchi gene. I know sometimes the Enchi gene can be subtle, particularly when combined with other genes. Can anyone help? I am considering to cancel the order and get another snake that has enchi het piebald genes in her. I like the snake, but I plan on breeding and need the ENCHI gene for sure. This is from a reputable breeder with 50 years experience, but I still have my doubts.

    Anyone can see the ENchi?

    I agree!

I see the pixelation and banding.

The head stamp is not very visible, but the rest sure looks like there is Enchi in there...

    I see enchi
(and not much else but I have no idea what Kalabash is though, sorry!)

really? that has Enchi written all over it.

what was the pairing? if you're buying from a reputable breeder, u should not have to worry really.

The reason I couldn't see it, is becnase the Kalabash gene does some similar things as Enchi, and the breeder even agreed that the Kalabash gene "overpowers" the enchi gene a bit in this particular snake.

THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE! I am really excited to have such a unique snake, with all three genes! Enchi has been on my wishlist for months.

Also, for me, some Enchis are very obvious, and others are hard to see. What exactly is it to look for the for? The "banding" is a strong feature of the Kalabash, so that alone doesn't mean a lot in this case. The color doesn't look Enchi, but I must have judged it wrong.

i think u are too focused on KRG and that's all u see. not too many peeps work w/ KRG so it seems very exciting but keep it mind Enchi does similar things. OD, Blade and other genes help clean patterns also.

TBH i'm not familar w/ KRG and that BP u are buying looks like a reduced Enchi to me. i would attribute the additional reduction in the last 1/3 of that BP to KRG. 2 big things in Enchis always jump out to me: 1) the pixelation coming up their sides into the pattern. u know how Calico's and Sugars often have white speckling? Enchi has that put in smaller pixels of yellow/orange w/ black speckling thrown in; 2) reduced (wide) pattern that includes banding and limited dots. they also usually have some light orange blushing and greenish eyes.

Edit: would u happen to be getting this BP from Tropical Tom? he's an old timer from my neck of the woods and works w/ KRG and has been into reptiles for like a million years.
