    Peanut's vet visit
Finally got her into the vet today and it went fairly well.

The doctor said she had many things that were sort of peculiar about her. Possibly from an abusive owner or just birth defects but the wound on her mouth apparently is still healing and there is a bump or fracture on her back and around that fracture there are deformed ribs. Either way it seems healed or not bugging her so we didn't bother with an x-ray yet but in the future we might get one out of curiosity. She also said that she heard a heart murmur and that she'd never seen a snake with a heart murmur. She didn't know what could cause it so she'll get back to us soon on if we should worry about it.

Aside from deformities and wounds ( I was basically positive already but ) she was officially diagnosed with a late respiratory infection and was prescribed injections to help her heal faster and smoother!

She should be showing signs of getting better in about a week!

Ceftazidime is wonderful for reptiles. Smells really sweet once it thaws - lol. To thaw it faster without heating you can roll the syringe between your hands for a few min (don;t know if the vet told you). I've used it in lots of snakes and turtles and it does not seem to sting too much. good luck

Great! I just knew that poor little snake needed a vet based on your description and pictures. I am so glad that the bugger is getting nice treatment, good job! on a positive note, despite all the health problems, looks to be a very healthy weight.

Aww thanks! And she's about 455g so she's catching up on her weight fast!

What a nice little peek into a vet visit. Is that a warm pack (blue balloon) Peanut is chilling out on the table? That's pretty cool! Seems like a good vet!
Glad you are getting Peanut all taken care of and providing a good home!

I have a kinked BP I took in from a friend, more severe than your girl, and the xrays were really interesting! I wanted to see how bad it was and get the vet's opinion on why it may have happened and what impact he felt it would be on her quality of life. (she's doing great btw), posted the xrays here: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=520472
