Feeding question.

Shiva, my Mojave female 175g, ran across her enclosure to grab a rat I dropped into the side away from her. She had eaten last Wednesday and this was Saturday night. I can always tell when she is hungry. She is looking out her hide ready for a rat to walk by. I fed her a rat of proper size both times. It seams that as soon as she poops she is looking for food. Should I keep her on the 7 day schedule or feed her after she poops? Her poops are solid. She has a great disposition to being handled.

Stick to every 5-7 days. Over feeding just leads to an eventual hunger strike on top of weight issues. Yes, BPs can get fat. They arent supposed to be the most maximum stuffed sausages like some people try to maintain for faster growth.

Yup.

What's the normal rule of thumb of when to offer food again if it's refused the 1st time? Should you wait a week?

I had a little snafu last night where my BP was obviously hungry but I dropped the F/T when he tried to strike. Since the food was w/i striking distance, I decided to leave it thinking it would be gone in the morning (as it always is) but it was still there. I could tell the smell of the F/T was really enticing because he came out of his hide more then he usually does. The mouse got a little wet during the thawing process so there was more of a smell while I was heating it up w/ a hair dryer. I may use this 'wet' technique in the future.

Hey All, I'm trying not to panic but I'm definitely a nervous python mom. We bought our baby from PetSmart a week before Christmas. She is so gentle and did great on her first feed about 2weeks later. Every since though she has no desire to eat at all. It's been about 6weeks now & I'm getting nervous since she is only 5months old. We keep the humidity levels at 50-60% with a cold side around 75degrees and warm around 90degrees. She has two hides on each side and water in the middle that she loves to utilize. We've tried feeding both outside & inside her tank. We've done fuzzies and pinkies. Everytime she just looks away & does not want anything to do with the mouse. We even tried leaving the mouse overnight. HELP! This is my first ball python & want to make sure she is healthy. Thanks in advance for any advice available.

Pinky and fuzzy mice are way too small. How much does it weigh? How often are you offering food after a refused meal? Have you handled it in the last 5-6 weeks that its not eaten? How big is the enclosure? Theres a lot of suggestions that can be made after we know more about its care and the approach youre taking to offering the food even down to the prey temp.
