    is 6' heat tape fine?
    Hello,
I have been waiting to get 4' heat tape for my 15 qt tub but it does not come in stock. I have been waiting for 3 weeks now and I need it fairly soon.
I was thinking of just getting 6' heat tape for my 15 qt tub which is about 16 inch long. I guess it covers little more than 1/3 of the tub. Is it fine to use 6' ? Maybe I can place tub little further is it covers 1/3 perfectly.
What do you guys recommend? wait for 4' or just get 6'?

I'm assuming you mean 4 inch and 6 inch flexwatt? I dont use tubs or racks but the general rule of thumb for belly heat is 1/4 to 1/3 of the cage floor on the heat. The snake needs to have plenty of space to get completely away from the heat if they want.

So to answer your question, if the 6 inch tape covers 1/3 of the cage, then you should be fine. Of course you will want to run a t-stat for any heat source.

    Got a little chuckle here.....
    ' is a foot
    " is inches

Either will work when properly regulated.
