    Carpondro Thoughts
I follow a couple Morelia FB groups for the eye-candy, and it seems like there’s a surge in breeding carpondros (carpet x chondros) lately.

Some of the snakes that result are pretty, but I’m not sure I like hybrids in general. I have the usual question about what the requirements will be of the offspring, what the point is, etc. OTOH, my JCP and IJCP are fairly arboreal, so I can see where a carpet x chondro cross could be fairly predictable. On the other other hand, throwing Bredli into the mix? Err...they’re more desert-y, and my girl likes to coil up on her shelf at times, but is not otherwise a climber.

Anybody else have general thoughts about carpondros? Pointers to reputable/reliable information on them? I’m unlikely to ever want one, but I wonder about the motivations and the results of these crossings.

Hybrids are pretty controversial because unless you know exactly the breeder and what they bred, you get a mutt that you have no idea the genetics and cross breeding. It also increases the chance to muddy the "bloodlines" of species.

Personally I am not fond of cross breeding species and I think it should not be encouraged.

Those are also some of my concerns.

Carpet aren't exactly demanding captives, so I imagine that there wouldn't be any issue putting a Carpondro in a setup made for a GTP, maybe something with a bit more floor space than a pure Chondro would get. Maybe throwing Bredli in there might cause some issues. I looked into breeding hybrids and decided against it, I'd rather there be more CBB Chondros be available.
