Vision V332

I found a guy on Craigslist selling a vision cage for 100 bucks he used it for a boa. This would be a massive upgrade from my current aquarium for my daughters ball python. Anyone have experience with these and would it be worth the trip I need to make.

I don't have experience with that particular cage, but if it had any other reptile in it, I'd thoroughly disinfect it. You can use bleach stronger than you would normally for a reptile, but you MUST rinse very very well, then maybe leave it outside in the sun just to further break down any remaining bleach. Make sure there is zero chemical smell before putting your snake in it. If it comes with anything wooden/porous (bedding, branches,hides) etc that can't be sterilized, toss them. You don;t want to risk getting your little one ill if the previous reptile had mites or a contagious virus

I do have a plastic (PVC) cage for mine by a different company and it is sooo much easier to maintain than a tank, it looks nice, and is easy to clean.

I have a vision 532 for a retic. If you can score a 332 for $100 go get it.

I had to cover the back vents to keep the humidity up. My only real complaint with it otherwise is that reaching into the far back corners to clean it - because that's were the snake usually "goes" - is a big stretch.

Thoroughly clean and disinfect it before using it. I would do that outside or in the garage before even bringing it in the house. Any time I buy used enclosures I spray them with 100% ammonia and let them sit outside for 24 hours before rinsing well, as that will kill crypto like nothing else will.

Unfortunately I’m not gonna be able to make this happen. Kind of sucks when a good deal falls through, in a couple weeks I’ll be ordering two custom ap cages so all is well. Thanks for all the input though

They are double the cost of a AP enclosure and 2/3rd the size. I dont know what he is asking but you can get a AP T10 for $250 to your door and I think they are the bomb. AP are 4' vs the Vision 332 is 3'. AP are easy to clean compared to vision also because vision has all kinds of valleys and humps on the ceiling ect.. If you can get it for $100 take it.. If not id get a Brand New AP T8 ($200) or AP T10 ($250) including shipping.

I would be extremely hesitant to house a snake in something a boa was in without a significant portion of time and heavy disinfection. Boas are the primary carrier for IBD and can carry a variety of other boid-related diseases.

In addition, as others note, they are known for having issues holding humidity. They work great for less-humidity dependent species though.
