Ball python housing

Hello, I am soon to become a ball python owner in couple months when repticon comes to our town.
Before I bring my ball python, I am setting up the tub and testing out humidity + temperature. I don't have the heat tape yet because they are out of stock but soon I will test the temp as well. Humidity is fine with the water bowl in there with holes. My question is that I see many posts saying that they will need hides on both side of hot and cool zone. However, since I am planning to get a baby ball python, my tub is not big yet. I brought the plastic bowl used in noodles and company for soup etc but the size of the tub is too small to put two hides on both end. I did try putting it and I don't know if this is okay or not. In the future, when I get bigger tub, I will be building five sided wooden shelf(something like rack but for just one tub) so tubs are not exposed to much light except for one side. But for now, with some light exposure during the day, I don't know what would be a better idea. It is a 15 qt tub.

I would say just set it up like that first picture, with two hides and a water dish. Your snake won't feel cramped assuming you are getting a hatchling.

Alright, sounds good. I heard ball python babies outgrow small hides pretty fast so I am just going to use some free hide until like ~250g and then switch out to reptile basic medium hide.

That would be a good idea. Saving money is good. I am about to pick up 4 more ball pythons in march to establish a breeding group and i am going to use these little soup cups from a local restaurant here that work perfect for the little ones and are free :)
