    How soon is too soon?
Okay, just want to get your input. Should I wait until I have more experience with DD until I get a second BP?

I want to get a female normal this weekend at the reptile swap, but I don't want to be irresponsible either. To be honest, I always wanted a snake, now I want more, many many more. Is this a common reaction to BPs?

oh my you have NO idea! :D i started out with my first bp a little over a year ago--it was just going to be a pet, something i'd wanted for a while but never really looked into. well, yeeeah now i have 2 racks full of bps and i'm hoping to start breeding this winter. then came the crested geckos, and the frogs and the leopard geckos...and the list goes on...:P it is definitely addicting.

but anyhow, as for your other questions, here is what i think. i think that you should work with DD and get everything perfect for him. his setup, husbandry, feeding, everything. get through all the firsts--first shed, first poop (yes some of us do obsess over it all:)), first feeding (which you have already done), etc. get really comfortable with your knowledge of him and his needs so that it becomes easy stuff to you. then when you do get your new bp you can pretty much just duplicate the setup and other stuff that you have done with DD.

it won't take you long to be ready for another snake if we can help it. all of us here are way more addicted than we like to admit and we love sharing our addiction with as many other unsuspecting people as possible! ;)

Thanks for the advice. DD has already pooped once. Urates every Friday night or Saturday morning. Does eat regularly. And will hopefully fully shed by this weekend does that count???

Of course, it helps that he was a sub-adult when we got him and the mom & pop pet shop that we go to has a guy that works there that provides very acurate info. Nothing he has told me contridicts what those of you that seem more experienced have said. To be honest, I now ask for him by name for quick questions. So he seemed pretty well established when I got him.

lol, well you don't have to take my advice word for word. :) if you feel that you are ready for another snake then by all means go ahead and get your new female this weekend. i'm just saying that there is no need to rush into it if you feel like you need more time to absorb knowledge and to get comfortable with everything. if you decide to get a female this weekend try to get everything set up for her ahead of time. that way you'll know that all your temps and stuff are correct before you bring her home and she can get right to settling in when she gets there.

it's really nice that you have a local pet store with a knowledgeable employee. so many shops that carry reptiles are rather lacking in knowledge of them.

Hello Heath. The first step is admitting you have an obsession. :) The second step is getting more females!!! lol
