    Accurite digital acting wonky
So I have the digital, grey accurite thermometer/hygrometer and the top right line of the number is out. But not just the top it is all of the top lines of all the right hand numbers. Anyone else have this happen? Does it need a new battery?

Might try a new battery, wouldn't hurt.

I'm really surprised this is happening with an instrument that is extremely reliable and accurate.

Acurite digital displays are not meant to be contained in high humid containers. Those grey ones are the cheapest they sell. Not knocking them but that's why I recommend the ones with the wireless probe. It is designed for outdoor conditions which most cages are and can handle the humidity.

You can test a new battery but what happens with these when the battery goes down is they start to fade, not have a line out. The outage could be corrosion or just a defective unit.

Is it anything like this? That happened to mine a couple months ago and I tried a new battery but it didn't fix it so I had to get a new one. I take them out when I mist now because I think water did it!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...092e06d420.jpg

I accidentally dumped water on one of my thermoPros and this happened... The cheap thermometers just aren't equiped for a high humidity environment (or y'know. clumsiness in my case).

So just for the sake of recommending, this is what I use and have sprayed them accidentally many times without issue

I have an expensive acurite probe for my BP and it reads changes almost instantly. These cheap ones take a minute or so to change but the end result has been very comparable to the $50+ ones just slower to acclimate and read changes.

So the white piece goes inside the tank? Cool. It's only 5 bucks more. So no probe for this one? I really don't want a probe one.

Yup, it is wireless and that white piece goes into the tank. It can be hung up or placed on dry substrate (how I have it in my rosy boa tank). As with anything you don't want to drench it with water (it does not have a gasket making it water proof) but I have accidentally spritz them a few times without issue. It can rotate showing outside temp and humidity and inside the tank temp and humidity in case you want to know the room temp and humidity outside the tank.
