    First actual bite
So. Hima the highway. Hes young gorgeous doesnt normally strike but he does like to eat...
    He ate two days ago.
My boyfriend lives with me and my family and helps with the snakes. He loves the snakes. Unfortunately, working with any animal puts you at risk of getting kicked, bit, trampled, squished, stepped on, etc no matter what species... snakes are fantastic biters.

Hima was in his one hand while he worked on cleaning the tub. Hima was calm and relaxed, then slithered towards his other hand. He nudged his middle finger then opened his mouth, grabbed hold, and coiled.

No rodents or prey item had been touched. They were fed the day before (tuesday). Brandon didnt just get tagged, no Hima tried to eat him. It was quite hilarious. He just walked over to me and was like what we gonna do about this?
Hima refused to let go, but eventually did after ten minutes. No blood was spilled. [emoji23] i just laughed and said welcome to the family. Hima hasnt tried since ansd has been calm for everyone else to hold. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ae2117076c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1b3d8e0289.jpg

That is definitely a case of mistaken identity!! LOL

Guess the hand was warm and something about it must have smelled enticing enough to give it a go! LOL

Welcome to the "first world snake owner problem" club! I have been bit by three kinds of snakes now and let me tell you it's never something I look forward to.

I agree it seems like your snake has impeccable manners.

My garters try to eat me periodically in case I became food since they last checked or something. I tell them they're rude but they don't seem to care. Hima on the other hand does seem to have excellent table manners and quite the cute bitey face.

Lol. Yup, a hatchling has tried to “eat” me as well. It is half funny and half horrifying if you ask me. One part of you wants to laugh at the silly little worm while the other half tells you to “get it off”. Anyone who lives in the south has experienced this with wild lizards as a kid:P.

Never had that yet. Had a few defense strikes from hatchlings, mostly for show to scare me off.
Never had a “bite and grab on like I’m food” yet!

The closest I've been to being bit was by a black racer. I thought it missed me and didn't feel anything but it looked like a got cut by a razor blade. It was about a half inch long cut and talk about ALOT of blood. I have had an obsession with catching wild snakes since I was a kid and nothing has changed. If I see one, I gotta catch it
