Loose eco earth coconut fibe

I’m at the pet store and need a quick answer. Is ecovearth loose coconut fiber good for tub
substrate? It looks pretty fine and messy.

I know some people use it, but I personally don't like it for snakes.

They also have coco soft which is coconut husk chunks

I prefer aspen or paper because they're cleaner.

I’m leaning towards the coco husk, but the loose fiber looks really awesome at humidity and odor.

I know it isn't a sustainable resource, which sucks, but if they have cypress mulch, I would get that. Shredded aspen isn't bad either, but I find it molds easier and can be dusty.

Really the best for tubs is paper towels in my opinion. I don't like seeing snakes get a mouth full of sticky substrate or getting dust in their heat pits.

I’ve got cypress mulch now, I’m switching. The coconut husks looks extreme similar. I’ve researched and coconut is clearly the best, just not sure if the ground fiber or chuncks of husks is better for snakes.

I've never tried coco husk but I can say the loose Eco earth is amazing! It is quite messy but it works great for humidity. I've thought about switching to coco husk but the Eco earth already works for me and you get used to how messy it is. My bp also loves to burrow in it from time to time :P

You could get both and mix them. I do use coconut fiber in a variety of enclosures, but it is always cut with other things like cypress mulch, sand, sphagnum, etc. It seems far less "sticky" that way.

If I had to pick one, I suspect husks would be easier to spit out and still give you humidity retention.

I’m going to try both I guess. That other thread that was linked, just turned into a huge debate.
