My BP keeps rubbing her face on her tank walls
Okay some things to know about my snake and her tank
humidity is at 50-60% at all times her temperature is at 80 all the time sometimes like 82 or 83
she is eating one mouse every week with no problem
but she has been doing this for a while where she just starts rubbing her face on the sides of her tank like she is itchy or something
she was just sleeping and it is tuesday and she ate on friday (like she does every friday) and she just woke up rubbed her face for a little bit and now is back to sleep again
she looks 100% normal no discoloration or flaking or any other weird behavior she also shed i think around a month ago or less and shows no signs of shedding again
BUT she also has been soaking a lot she has a tub of water right under her heating lamp (no light) and she just keeps soaking in it all the time sometimes for days at a time
thanks in advance :)
Re: My BP keeps rubbing her face on her tank walls
Sounds like she's going into SHED mode to be honest. Soaking and face rubbing CAN be signs as they rub their heads to start the skin peeling off .
Note - constant soaking CAN be a sign of mites if it doesn't go into shed mode ..

All of this ^ and do you not have a hot side and a cool side? You said your temperature was eighty. That’s okay for a cool side temp but what about your hot side? That should be around 88°F

I'd also be interested to know what type of thermometer is being used ..

Okay yall she just has a lamp in the middle right now and i don't know the exact temperature of right under it but i assume it is much warmer the thermometer is on the wall off to the side a little bit to get a fell for the whole cage and it is garbage but with christmas coming up i can't get a new one for a little while
i am terrified if she has mites because she looks 100% normal perfectly black eyes and no signs of shedding
i googled it and she doesn't have any strange bugs i was looking at her cage and got scared for a second because i saw little white spots but then i saw the outside of her tank was dirty i do clean it once a month on the first of EVERY month i have never skipped
but i am wondering if she could be algeria to the leaves in her tank
she was sitting on them when she started acting strange and i removed them and she hasn't done it today
i know NOTHING about these leaves except my friend gave them to me and i cleaned them a lot before using them and she used them for her gecko
as for googling the symptoms she has nothing strange in her water i change it everyday and her scales seem perfectly normal and so does her whole head
could she be allergic to the leaves and just cold? this bulb isn't the best
Re: My BP keeps rubbing her face on her tank walls
I think the temps are probably too high. If you have an unregulated heat lamp and one of those crappy dial thermometers, then the tank is probably too hot and your snake is trying to get out to cool off.

As mentioned above basically.
A ten dollar digital heat gun is a must have in this situation, I'd suggest

Oh my gosh thank you you guys!!! that would make so much sense! i have been wanting to ditch this one for a while and now i have a real excuse lol it is not a super safe thing to have in her tank anyway
