    Fasting snake
I have a male ball python who made it to 1.1KG at about 3 years of age and he's stopped eating but shown interest in for the last 2 weeks. Since he started fasting at least partly due to starting his shed he has lost about 40 grams weight. Its been about 5 weeks since he last ate.

Anyone think this is an issue or is it just me being a worried owner.

I could be wrong but I think I remember reading something about a “1000 gram wall” with ball pythons. Where a snake will grow steadily to this point and then all of the sudden quit eating for a bit. If that’s the case then what you’re experiencing could definitely be that. As long as the snake itself doesn’t look famished or lose extreme amounts of weight, I would say he’s fine.

I have a snake that hasn't eaten in 9 weeks, but is healthy and stout. No worries

Aye I read about that, am just concerned that he shot past the 1kg wall and then after that suddenly went off his food. He also has lost 40grams weight in about 5 weeks - that isn't normal for him since every other fast has left to him not having lost that much weight.

I'm just concerned because this is the first time my royal hasn't eaten right after a shed.
