Eye Question

Last night when I had Reba out, I noticed on her right eye there was a white spot. As I looked cloeser, I think it might be a eye cap not off from her last shed. It looks to be on the back side of the eye. Any suggestions how to help remove, or just let it come off naturally? Any suggetions would be great !!

Hmm.. from your description, it doesn't sound like an eyecap.

Normally the whole eye cap is stuck, not just part of it. The eye will look wrinkly, sometimes a bit cloudy. if it is an eyecap, you can try soaking. Some people use tweezers to gently remove it once it's softened, others recommend using tape (I think scotch type tape).

You can try using a q-tip to put some water on it so it softens.

I've seen snakes twitch and get stuck in the eye with tweezers during attempted eye cap removal as well as a ball python whose entire eye was pulled out of it's socket with a piece of tape.

If it is an eye cap there is no harm in leaving it alone until the next shed.

LOL well I may be a total weenie or just way too new but if any of mine have long term type eye issues I'm paying my vet to deal with it! I watched closely when our vet and her tech handled the snakes recently and they have a slick system down pat. The snake's didn't even know what hit em LOL before they were checked over, weighed, probed and popped back in their travel tubs. I was pretty dang impressed!

LOL ... sounds like a smart vet that at one point got tagged pretty bad learning his/her lesson the hard way! :D :P

does her eye look like its slightly indented? if so its not an eyecap ,i read on a caresheet that it could be a sign of slight dehydration. my snake has done it once before, it usually goes away in a few days or in the next shed.

The eye is not indented. I will try alittle higher humidity. It has been low with the dry heat.
