Pro Coco quality control issues?

Anyone else use pro coco and find some random objects in their blocks? I've found a piece of twine here and there, a few small threads of what looks like plastic baling straps, but this just now takes the cake and may change my mind about ordering any more pro coco products... a rusted and open safety pin?!?

Just glad that I'm pretty thorough about breaking up those blocks and sifting through them before putting any of it in my cages. I'd be livid if that stabbed any of my snakes

Oh no! This is pretty discouraging I was actually thinking of ordering from Prococo once I've gone through my Reptichip. Where did you buy your Prococo from? From the actual seller or third party?

I last ordered it from snakemuseum.com. They've been great to order things from and of course they personally have nothing to do with what is in each block of bedding. Just a bit concerning to me. The bedding is otherwise pretty good, a bit dustier than reptichip but like half the price. I may switch to aspen though if they're going to be hiding tetanus surprises in my mulch

I've found the plastic baling straps (and maybe some twine but it's been a while and I can't remember) in my most recent Grow!t block but... Yikes. I hope the plastic strips are it for this block because I think I'd just toss the entire thing if I found a safety pin in there... Dang....

(Reptichip looks more and more appealing every day lol).

I've used reptichip, grow !t, and pro coco. Reptichip is definitely the nicest but it's just so dang expensive. Wasn't a big fan of the grow !t stuff. Was really liking Pro coco until this happened just now... and I had 4 blocks in my snakemuseum.com shopping cart about to order in the next couple days. Going to have to think about it now.

Dang man! Lucky you didnt get stuck either. I too have found the strips of plastic baling twine in my Grow it stuff. Didnt try Pro Coco as i just went back to ReptiChips and then back to aspen and now that i found a place that carries my old 7.5 cu ft bales of the American Excelsior stuff, I am back in heaven. Plus cant beat the price at $4.99 a bale and as long as you order 1 bale, its only $7 and change for shipping. If you order more than 1 at a time, it adds up quick on the shipping, think it jumped up to $28 for shipping if i ordered 2. So it takes a week to get here so i just order 1 bale and when that gets halfway down, I'll order another.

You know i swear i found that green plastic twine in ReptiChips before too. But i never found anything as dangerous as a rusty open safety pin :O

I would definitely tell SnakeMuseum about it, though. Even if its not them that packs it, its good for them to know so they can deal with quality control issues from their supplier.

I started out with Reptichip but found that I had fewer mold problems with Prococo. I go through about four blocks of Prococo a month, never really found that many foreign objects. I did find a small twig the other day about the size of a toothpick but I find that overall it's very clean. I also found objects with Reptichip too, but never something like a safety pin! Mostly it's just a twig or piece of twine here and there. Not sure about the dust issue, seems like both products are similar. I try not to let either one dry out to the point where it's dry and dusty.
