    Long distance move coming up
Hello everyone. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, I will have to move from south Cali to Washington which is about 18 hour drive which I will probably cut that into a day or two to get to my destination.
    I have two questions:
    1. I only have 1 Ball python. How would I transport her?
    2. Any precaution or preparations I should know about?

Moves don't have to be too stressful on reptiles, since they get the same enclosure.

First, since the drive will be a long one, try to either take your snake in its own cage (take the water out during driving so it doesn't spill all over the place) or in an enclosure in which your snake can stretch out or get into hiding. Being in a small carrier may otherwise be stressful.
Avoid temperature extremes. Don't leave your snake in the car without temperature control. The stress of temperature changes can lead to them getting sick, even if they aren't immediately affected.
Once you get to your new home, set up the cage in a similar location to the old area. A place that is sunnier, darker, or louder than before may stress a snake.

I'm not an expert, but I hope this helps. Best of luck! : )

Put snake in pillow case/snake bag, secure tightly, place in well padded box not much larger than the snake. I keep a thermometer probe in the box to keep an eye on temps. Don't leave in direct sun.
If it's a two day drive give it a temporary tub/enclosure when you stop for the night to drink some water and such. Place back in the bag, secure, put it back in its box and finish the drive. Basically you're just packing your animal as though you were shipping it. There's a few good threads on the subject on here if you search for them

    Hi there!

I'm a military spouse that has moved multiple reptiles across the country many, many times. (And never lost a single one in transport!) Here's an article I wrote about it awhile ago. If you read through it, it should give you all the answers you need and may answer some questions you hadn't thought of as well. If you read through it and have more specific questions, I'll be happy to answer them!

    Good luck!!
