    More shipping questions
So I was offered a rescue blood python and shipping it overnight via shipyourreptiles.com would be over 500$, so I was wondering if you could do 2 day shipping. Their site says it would void insurance, what does that mean? Can I have the snake shipped and be unable to get my money back? Or would it be an issue if I even had the animal shipped 2 day. Thanks a lot and have a good day, Rhys.

Any live animal must ship Priority Overnight, it' not about insurance it's about the well being of the animal.

Considering the quote the best thing would be to have the animal ship Delta Dash.

I am also curious to know how you got that quote because even a 25lbs Blood shipped in a 30 x 16 x 10 box (largest standard box) from one coast to another, runs half that.

Also does the person has any experience shipping and more specifically shipping a large animal.

That price does seem outrageously high. Are you sure that wasn't the quote for the adoption fee + shipping?

Both of us haven't shipped so this would be a first. How does delta dash work, and is it cheaper? Hes roughly 10-20 pounds and isn't too long.

the snake is free. They just want me to organize the shipping arrangements and it's mine.

The average shipping price for a ball python is probably $65-$75, depending on box size. Perhaps you entered an extra digit when running a quote, making it a truly gigantic box?

Use code APS40 for 40% off your first shipment, but yes, all live packages MUST be shipped Priority Overnight. Contact our SYR staff directly, they would be happy to help you with the process.

Update: They finally got around to weighing him and hes just over 7 pounds, so not the heaviest boy. He'd be shipped from Illinois to Texas and as you guys made sure to say, Via priority overnight. I'm going to do the 30x16x10 box. The cost for overnight said:
    $203.54,
is that a normal price? It seems a bit steep, even for shipping a live animal overnight.

I just shipped a 3300 gram ball python (7.25 pounds or so) and it cost me ~$75 in a 15x11x7 box through SYR using a similar discount to the one Robyn shared above (~10 pounds total including packing materials, etc). Zero issues and perfectly comfortable.

Unless I'm missing something, a blood of similar weight shouldn't need a box that's double that size. That's why it's so expensive - FedEx charges based on the assumed weight (DIM weight) from the dimensions of the box or the actual weight of the box - whichever is greater.

That's a big box for a 7 lbs blood, you do not want to have too big of a box because you want the animal to be nice and snug, this is why the shipper need to arrange that not you, they also want to get a box and warmers that are designed to ship live animals (boxes are stronger and warmers are not your average warmers found at your local store)

The box will be smaller, to give you an idea I have shipped 2 to 3 2000/2500 grams BP in a 16x 16 x 8 box (that's well over 8 lbs)

You also need to remember that right now I would advise against shipping until Dec 4th (Fedex always experience delays during the holidays) and you will have until about dec 13th as far as shipping window, if it cannot be done by than than wait until after the holidays January 8th

Again contact Robyn directly to guide you with which kit to use and remember to use the coupon he provided above.

Finally keep in mind that Blood are not a beginner snake and rescue even less, there are usually reasons why people get rid of them and it is temperament so experience will be key.
