    Friendsgiving
I've been invited to a Friendsgiving. This will be the second year that I will take part in one. Which means I have to cook something. The host( my brother's girlfriend) kinda planned it at the last minute. I need to have a dish ready by 7pm on Friday. After figuring out what I'm making (my mom's sweet casserole) I realize I need to go shopping now. It takes 2 hours to cook the sweet potatoes and 4 1/2 for the casserole. There is no way I could get that done tomorrow. Well, time to brave the cold and go shopping.

    Anyone else doing a friendsgiving?

not this year! but i used to do it when i lived in Cali. i would either come home during Christmas or Thanksgiving. if i stayed in Cali for Thanksgiving, i would have Friendsgiving w/ friends and coworkers.

Edit: oh you're having a Thanksgiving dinner Friday, not next Thursday. anyway no, i don't have a separate Friendsgiving planned. maybe i should. the more i showoff my new gravy boat the better. :)

We're doing friendsgiving at my place with my girlfriend and one of my colleagues from my campus. Just the three of us for the moment that I know of but better than nothing. Not to brag too much but I've got pretty much the best pumpkin pie recipe ever. Happy to share it if anyone would like. Also excited about (hopefully) having a turkey small enough for three people so I can slow smoke it on the grill!

I'm English so don't do thanks giving or friendsgiving, but I can give some advice on sweet potatoes :) If you're baking them, do them in a microwave! Just stab them so they don't explode, and put them on for 10 ish minutes (and then extra until you can stab a knife through them) if you wanna crisp up the skins then you can put them in the oven for a few more minutes. A lot quicker than 2 hours!

Here'a the pie recipe! I didn't feel like typing it all so tell me if you can't read anything, in which case I'll type it out.

I'm sure it's good without the brûlée top, but it really does add a nice touch. I know not everyone keeps a brûlée torch handy though. I broke down and got one off of amazon

Well. I made the casserole today. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Cooking the sweet potatoes yesterday saved some time. All I need to do now is add marshmallows but that will be done when I get the party.

It looks pretty naked right now but it won't be for long.
