    TBC Eye Candy
Just wanted to share a few of the goodies we're enjoying this season. Looking forward to hatching some *very* exciting snakes in 2018!

One of the stunning, intensely-colored T+ albinos we're raising up.

Thank you Emily! Looking forward to taking reds to new heights this season now that some of our full-circle projects are coming of age. Hope you are doing well! :)

With T+ & T-, the "T" refers to tyrosinase, which is an enzyme responsible for controlling melanin production.

In a tyrosinase-positive (T+) albinos, this enzyme is functional, but they're lacking another enzyme which allows for the complete synthesis of melanin. This is why T+ albinos still have the rich intense reds, lavenders, purples and browns, but little actual white (cream-colored instead). T+ albinos are often referred to as Caramel Albinos throughout herpetoculture.

In a tyrosinase-negative (T-) albino, this enzyme is absent, and you see white in the areas that would normally be black in color. T- albinos are also called "amelanistic" albinos.

Thank you so much for the great explanation I saw that on blood and reticulated pythons but was confused to what it meant :P
