    Temperature problems (need help!!)
I'm having trouble keeping the temperature on the cool side down. I have the warm side of her tank at around 85 but the cool side won't dip below 82. I don't know what to do and I can't find anything about it online. Any tips?

what size terrarium? It should be long enough to provide a temp. gradient. a heater on one end, and no heater on the other should work.

Do you have a way to dim down the heat output on the overhead lamp heating it? I am assuming it is the same setup you posted a week ago?

What exactly are you using to heat the enclosure including the wattage of any lamp and if you a e using a UTH and the size of the enclosure.

Also, what is the temperature in the room the cage is kept in?

Maybe you can post a lot more info of the setup including a few photos ideally ..

Warm side sounds to be rather low whilst the cool side seems too high ..

She is just a baby, so I have her in a 10 gallon tank

I use a 60 watt red heat light. My room is set at 75 and I have the fan running 24/7 to get some air flow but that's not working either.

I'm using a heat lamp and a heating pad (that is set up on the SIDE of the tank, not under) but neither is keeping the warm side temperature up.

Heat pads do little or nothing for ambient temperature, their purpose is to create a basking spot that your snake can lie on. They must be regulated by a thermostat or they will get hot enough to burn your snake.

A 10-gal tank is too small to provide much of a gradient. I would move the heat pad to the tank floor and regulate it with a thermostat so the glass over it reads 90-92*F as measured with a temp gun. Use the light to bump up the ambient to 80*F.

The tank screen top should be covered with foil to retain heat and humidity.

Once your snake outgrows the tank, which won't take long, get a proper PVC or melamine enclosure designed for a reptile.

The tank is too small. BCR229 gave all good advice, I second all that. :gj:
