    Herpstat question!
I am planning on buying a hersptat for my BP's t8 to best regulate his temperature. I am finding it a bit difficult to determine which to purchase, I understand the differences between the basic and the 1 as far as the safety features and such. The only question, i believe, that I still have is regarding what Herpstat would best suit me. I have heat tape provided by animal plastics as well as a recently purchased 80 watt RHP that I purchased from Reptile Basics as I live in New England and it gets quite cold in the coming months. My question is would I need a Herpstat 2 to run the heat tape separate from the RHP? I currently have a cheap thermostat from Zilla which is why I am looking to upgrade. I have both the heat tape as well as the RHP plugged into the zilla and have been turning it up quite a bit from the actual temperature range to achieve the desired temperatures inside the t8.

Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated!

You will need a Herpstat 2 to run two separate devices. If you only use a single thermostat for both devices, you run the risk of one of them burning your snake, because the thermostat will heat up both devices whether or not it's actually needed.

    Re: Herpstat question!
yes, a Herpstat 2 has two separate probes and can regulate two separate heating elements at their own temperature settings.

i have a T8 with an 80 W RHP and a UTH with a Herpstat 2 Redline regulating both. they work wonderful here in the Chicago winters. [emoji3]

    hope this helped!

Herpstat 2 all the way. Proportional for the UTH and dimming for the RHP. Best investment I ever made. OH! Get the metal probe upgrade option. I think like $2. They are amazing.

Dont forget to check the classifieds on here and other reptile forums. I bought all my herpstats at half the price at amazing working condition.
