Vermiculite VS Sponge For Egg Boxes?
In preparation for some anticipated upcoming first clutches, i'm finally getting around to converting a wine refrigerator that I picked up on Craigslist into an incubator and preparing some egg boxes. I know most breeders seem to prefer using Vermiculite, but sponge seems to much more hassle-free and cleaner. Either way, I will be placing egg crate over top of it, as well as parchment paper under the lid to help prevent condensation from dripping on the eggs. Have any of you used both methods and have any thoughts you would like to share?

Are you certain about that? I've seen videos where people say the sponges can even be reused...

Natural sponges mold pretty quickly, synthetic ones don't. I've used them and they are fine. I do run the sponges through the dishwasher and then rinse them very well before using them to ensure they are clean. You could also boil them to sterilize them.

I had success using synthetic sponges and it was my first attempt so I've nothing to compare it to...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e24284cbdf.jpg

That's a cute picture. It looks like a little nursery with all of those bright colors... lol
